Contribute

Since launching Write In My Journal, what I’ve enjoyed most is the email I’ve received from people who have said the site inspired them to do something similar, with many asking for permission to start their own sites. Instead, I proposed that they become contributors to Write In My Journal.

Now I’m making the offer public.

How it works

It’s pretty simple really. Carry your journal around with you and if you see someone you think may have an interesting story to tell, explain the project to them (that what they write will be posted publicly at writeinmyjournal.com) and ask if they’d be interested in participating. If they’re OK with it, hand over your journal. After they’re done, ask if you can get a picture of them to go along with the post. I usually snap shots with my iPhone.

Then scan the entry, write up a paragraph or two about why you chose that person, details about your interaction, impressions, etc., and email everything to
david @ writeinmyjournal(.)com
.

Details

1. Note that this is about you collecting stories from people you don’t know, not writing in your own journal.

2. All submissions will be attributed to the contributor with their name and a link to their site (if provided).

3. I reserve the right to edit, or reject, any submission at my sole discretion. If I don’t publish a story you submit, please don’t become discouraged and stop sending them in! No hard feelings intended – I certainly understand that you don’t have any control over what people write.

4. By submitting to Write In My Journal, you give me a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content which you submit.

Questions?

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email me (david @ writeinmyjournal(.com). I enjoy hearing from people and am (usually) pretty good about responding quickly. Thanks so much for visiting the site and I look forward to receiving your first entry!

The opportunity

Obviously there are more stories out there waiting to be told than I can possibly collect. I think there could be tremendous value in gathering those stories in a central repository where they can be shared. So go out, buy a journal, and start collecting the untold stories that are all around us!
